MOQ is not one fixed number for every custom sportswear project. It changes with fabric, color, construction, decoration and packaging. Understanding those variables helps buyers choose the right level of customization for the first order.

These quantities apply to the selected product routes, not every style or decoration method. The specific product page and approved quotation take precedence. Confirm fabric, artwork, colors, size allocation and packing before ordering.
Per Color, Per Design, Pieces and Sets
Where a product page or approved quotation explicitly states a per-color minimum, apply it separately to each color. A per-design minimum applies to each agreed design. A set is the complete combination listed on the product page; it is not interchangeable with a single piece. The listed 200 pcs for selected skorts and 500 pcs for selected polyester sports socks do not specify a per-color minimum; confirm color and size allocation in the quotation. Do not assume that size mixing, color mixing or different decoration methods share the same minimum.
Plan Sampling Before the Delivery Deadline
Typical sportswear samples take around 10–15 days after design, materials and specifications are confirmed. Approve fit, artwork, colors and construction before bulk production. Confirm sample fees, the production schedule and international delivery against the selected project.
What Actually Drives MOQ?
The minimum order is influenced by the smallest economical production unit in the supply chain. A stock fabric with standard colors may allow a more flexible quantity than a custom-dyed material. A simple logo print may be easier to scale down than a fully custom garment with multiple trims and labels.

Three Useful Levels of Customization

Level 3 — Full custom development: custom pattern, material, construction, labels and packaging for brands that need a distinct product specification.
Why Samples Cost More Per Piece
A sample carries one-time work that is spread over only one or a few pieces: pattern adjustment, artwork setup, material sourcing, cutting, decoration and manual review. Sample cost should be treated as development cost rather than compared directly with bulk unit pricing.
What to Check on a Sample
Review fit, measurements, material hand feel, stretch and recovery, opacity, stitching, decoration size and position, color, labels and packaging. Wear-test performance items when possible. Send consolidated comments with photos and measurements rather than general feedback such as “make it more premium.”
How to Keep the First Order Efficient
Reduce unnecessary colorways, avoid too many SKUs, use shared materials across styles and decide which custom details truly matter to the customer. A focused first order usually gives better learning than spreading the same budget across a very broad range.
FAQ
Can MOQ be lower if I use standard fabrics?
A standard fabric can avoid a separate fabric-production or dyeing minimum, but it does not automatically reduce the product minimum shown above. Any alternative quantity or construction must be confirmed in the quotation.
Do I need a sample before bulk production?
For custom products, sampling is strongly recommended because it confirms fit, material, color, branding and construction before the bulk quantity is committed. Typical sportswear samples take around 10–15 days after design, materials and specifications are confirmed; the agreed project schedule takes precedence.
What information helps a supplier quote accurately?
Send the selected product, quantity by color and size, reference images or tech pack, material preference, decoration, labels, packaging, delivery country and required arrival date. Keep quantities in the same unit as the product minimum: pcs or sets.
